ROCK:
RURAL OUTREACH COMMUNITY KINDNESS

Our community support workers meet with people on the streets of Bancroft. This program was established to connect with people who use drugs and people who are homeless and/or scarcely housed.

ROCK workers provide information and referrals, someone to talk to, harm reduction kits and support (safe inhalation and safe injection supplies, naloxone kits and training, and small disposal containers). Additionally, the team provides basic needs supplies (hygiene kits, hats and mitts, and gift cards for

groceries and gas, when available). People are also welcomed into our space for warmth, food, connection and a bit of relief. Many of the people we see through Outreach have taken on a role with Harvest The North community gardens and have established a “ROCK garden”. We also host afternoon kit making where we assemble our harm reduction supplies into kits (supplies courtesy of Public Health). We always have a great time with lunch, laughs and most importantly…connections.

We always welcome donations, so we can provide as much support and supplies as possible throughout the year. If you wish to support us in any way, or are interested to know more about this program, please come in and see us or call us: North Hastings Community Trust, 613 332-3657, 23B Bridge Street West. Hours are Tuesday through Friday, 10.00 am to 3.00 pm.

North Hastings Community Trust is part of a larger harm reduction network that includes Hastings Prince Edward Public Health, The Bancroft Family Health Team, Addictions and Mental Health, and various community members.
